CAPS helps students complete senior year projects

Since 2008, CAPS Founder Tina R. McSwain has mentored area high school students by teaching them about all aspects of paranormal investigation. CAPS Core Team members have given of their time and resources to work with the students on conducting actual ghost hunts as the student's final project.

This school year, CAPS has logged over 110 hours of instruction, over 35 hours of investigation, and countless hours in review and presentation of evidence collected on these ghost hunts.

I would like to say a special Thank You to CAPS Film Crew, Ash Bowers and Jeff Willoughby for all of their hard work and devotion to this endeavor!

CAPS is proud to congratulate the following North Carolina High School Seniors on the completion of their Project Graduation Product on Paranormal Invesitgation, as well as their upcoming Graduation in June!!

CAPS performs a “cleansing” for Second Harvest Food Bank

CAPS Core members were at Second Harvest Food Bank on April the 29th. CAPS helped out with routine cleaning and some preparation for Paula Deen's visit.

Second Harvest is CAPS' official charity for 2010. Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina (SHFBM) strives through education, advocacy, and partnerships to eliminate hunger by the solicitation and distribution of food.

They provide a regional distribution warehouse and branches that supply food and grocery items to charitable agencies that assist people in need. They also provide training, consultation, technical assistance, and hunger education to their partner agencies.

What is Chef’s Best?

Chef's Best is a benefit event for Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina’s Community Food Rescue Program. The 21st annual Chef’s Best event will feature a reception followed by an elegant fivecourse dinner with each course prepared by one of the region’s finest chefs. This year, Food Network’s PAULA DEEN will be joining Harris Teeter in preparing the Entree

course with food provided by Smithfield. The event also features an auction with

restaurant, travel and sports packages. Perry’s of Southpark will be providing jewelry

pieces for the auction with Ernest Perry serving as auctioneer.

How does your sponsorship help?

15% of the population in the Metrolina Region lives at or below the poverty level. Over 170,000 of these individuals are children and seniors. These individuals make difficult choices whether to purchase food or pay other expenses such as utilities, rent and medical care. Your sponsorship will make a real difference in the lives of our less fortunate neighbors.

Empty Bowls – Charity Lunch

On February 26th, Second Harvest Food Bank will celebrate its 10th Annual Empty Bowls.

Empty Bowls is a fun lunch-time event- – you are welcome to drop by between the hours of 11:30AM and 1:30PM and have lunch, select a beautiful handcrafted pottery bowl,participate in a silent auction, hear great music and enjoy pottery demonstrations.

CAPS Volunteers for Charity

CAPS Members and friends volunteered their time Sunday 12/6/2009 to Feed the Children, an annual Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina event to reach out to local families in need.

The Food Bank has standing opportunities on Thursday nights from 6pm til 9pm, and Saturday mornings from 9am til 12pm where they need your help! Volunteer at their Spratt Street location.

The calculations are done, CAPS donated a total of 120 Volunteer hours to help Second Harvest this past Sunday and Monday! That translates into $1,200.00 dollars and at $1 dollar = 6 pounds of food, that translates into 7,200 pounds of food – - enough to feed a family of four 4,800 meals. WOW! I wanted to say a very big THANK YOU to everyone who came out and helped us. Below are some of the photos of the dunk hunger project and finished canstruction!
