Many of our Meetup members have asked for it, and now I am happy to be able to make it happen.

Make your plans to join us on a Paranormal Investigation hosted by The Charlotte Area Paranormal Society (CAPS). On Friday July 30th, we will meet at The Haunted Mill on Wilkinson Blvd. in Belmont, NC at 10PM.

Food (Pizza and snacks) will be served from 10PM until Midnight. We will have a short presentation as well.

The actual investigation will start at Midnight and last for several hours. Plan to arrive home in the wee hours of the morning!

This location is a 100 year old mill in the Belmont area, and it does have a history of a haunting. Bring your camera, your recorder, your flashlight, your EMF detector, or any other ghost hunting equipment you may have and join in the adventure!!

There is a COST TO ATTEND THIS EVENT. COST IS $5.00 PER PERSON.

We are thrilled that this months meetup will be held at the Haunted Wrenn House restaurant in Salisbury, NC. We will enjoy a delicious meal, hear about first hand experiences with the Wrenn House ghosts and discuss the Wrenn House paranormal investigation results. Following dinner we will go on the Salisbury Ghost Walk. All this for $25 per person.

This is a reservation only event and must be paid in advance.

Animazement 13

The Charlotte Area Paranormal Society is proud to announce that we will be appearing at Animazement 13 in Raleigh, NC. Animazement 13 is North Carolina's Premier Anime Convention and runs May 28 – 30, 2010.

CAPS helps students complete senior year projects

Since 2008, CAPS Founder Tina R. McSwain has mentored area high school students by teaching them about all aspects of paranormal investigation. CAPS Core Team members have given of their time and resources to work with the students on conducting actual ghost hunts as the student's final project.

This school year, CAPS has logged over 110 hours of instruction, over 35 hours of investigation, and countless hours in review and presentation of evidence collected on these ghost hunts.

I would like to say a special Thank You to CAPS Film Crew, Ash Bowers and Jeff Willoughby for all of their hard work and devotion to this endeavor!

CAPS performs a “cleansing” for Second Harvest Food Bank

CAPS Core members were at Second Harvest Food Bank on April the 29th. CAPS helped out with routine cleaning and some preparation for Paula Deen's visit.

Second Harvest is CAPS' official charity for 2010. Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina (SHFBM) strives through education, advocacy, and partnerships to eliminate hunger by the solicitation and distribution of food.

They provide a regional distribution warehouse and branches that supply food and grocery items to charitable agencies that assist people in need. They also provide training, consultation, technical assistance, and hunger education to their partner agencies.

What is Chef’s Best?

Chef's Best is a benefit event for Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina’s Community Food Rescue Program. The 21st annual Chef’s Best event will feature a reception followed by an elegant fivecourse dinner with each course prepared by one of the region’s finest chefs. This year, Food Network’s PAULA DEEN will be joining Harris Teeter in preparing the Entree

course with food provided by Smithfield. The event also features an auction with

restaurant, travel and sports packages. Perry’s of Southpark will be providing jewelry

pieces for the auction with Ernest Perry serving as auctioneer.

How does your sponsorship help?

15% of the population in the Metrolina Region lives at or below the poverty level. Over 170,000 of these individuals are children and seniors. These individuals make difficult choices whether to purchase food or pay other expenses such as utilities, rent and medical care. CAPS Vounteer Opportunity! Charlotte Wine and Food Weekend

Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina is fortunate to be one of five agencies receiving part of the proceeds from the Charlotte Wine and Food Weekend being held Thursday – Saturday at a number of venues around the uptown area. As you might imagine, events of this magnitude require A LOT of volunteers. The positions we are responsible for where we still need help are listed below. The Gateway Perimeter positions on Friday, 4/23, are literally standing around the perimeter of the event—there is picket fencing marking the event area—directing people to bathrooms and answering questions. The parking/greeting on Saturday 4/24, is standing in pairs on the Ritz parking deck directing people to the elevator and telling them what level to punch and would be a great activity for couples, friends or parent and child. Fact sheets on the event and directions for each assignment will be provided to all volunteers. Individuals and groups welcome to volunteer.
